  1. Why is there an asteroid belt? Because asteroids are rocky leftovers from the era of planet formation.
  2. How are meteorites related to asteroids? Because meteorites are pieces of asteroids.
  3. How do comets get their tails? The tails grow when the nucleus heats up.
  4. Where do comets come from? Kuiper's Belt
  5. How big can a comet be? They can get as big as Pluto.
  6. What are Pluto and other large objects of the Kuiper belt like? They have tilted, elliptical orbits, and icy compositions.
  7. Can a meteorite hit Earth? Yes
  8. Name a few comets. Haley, Hale Bopp, and Swift-Tuttle.
  9. What is comet PANSTARRS? PANSTARRS is a non-periodic comet discovered in June of 2011, which is expected to be visible to the naked eye when it is near perihelion in March of 2013.
  10. Was the meteorite in Russia last month previously an asteroid? No.
